The Sunday Spread
Vol 18: A perfect foundation match, Wearing all black again, Moving wish list items up and getting back to family time
Welcome to The Sunday Spread.
We’re coming to the end of a the busy season in our household and I’m craving the slow down already. I literally love being up under my husband and having him home as much as possible. Our 6 year wedding anniversary is coming up top of next month and honestly I want to go to Disneyland again (we went with the babies right before our passes expired for our anniversary last year). It’s the Food and Wine Festival at California Adventure and honestly it’s so fun and so good.
What’s on the table this week: I’m starting to see more posts and conversations around people being unable to tell if their thoughts and wants are their own or the thoughts of someone else and I love that we are talking about this.
This is what I mean when I say observing is different than absorbing. I think people are finally waking up to the amount of noise that we’re surrounded by. Inundated with. Not being able to decipher your own thoughts from the thoughts of someone else is sad honestly.
This is why you have to have something to stand for. Values. Morals. Not just being a good person. Having a signature style sounds limiting until you realize you’re one of few with clear thoughts about yourself and what you actually like.
I know who I am and whose I am. I came to the end of searching for myself and started realizing, I’m here, with myself. There is no one to look for. I already exist.
What I Ate This Week: Cottage Cheeeeese. Dare I say I’m actually obsessed with it now. It’s so good, such a great addition to just about everything and it makes me so full for breakfast.
We went out to dinner on Valentine’s Day which is not something we always do. We do it like every other year and so far have only gone to one restaurant, ON the holiday. Two Hommes. We eat there so much — we’ve been rolling with them since the beginning, mad love for the food and flavors.
We had a 8 course dinner with a gift and it was such a great experience, as it always is. We paid for dinner in advance, so had a few extra drinks too make it a good night. It wasn’t rushed and I love and appreciate the alone time I get with my husband. Holding hands, just us.
All 8 courses were insane, 1 of a kind and so worth the experience. The menu is a mystery each year, which makes it fun, but it can be hectic if you have an allergy. It was complete with a lot of surf a little bit of turf, filet mignon, striped bass, crab, blue fin, 2 desserts, a crazy bread loaf. 4 cocktails to choose from. I actually love that it was seafood heavy because their menu is more turf. I love it there. A girlfriend and I are going soon.
Sunday Daydreams: Daydreaming about the Spicy Pickle Margarita that I saw on IG by @Nikki.sips. I love the other takes on dirty martini’s — I’m more of a pickle girl than an olive girl anyway, so anything turned into pickle is usually intriguing to me. Will I make it on my own, we’ll see, but for now I’ll dream about how I believe it taste.
The same creator, Nikki, made a Lychee Lemon margarita and that one I’m definitely going to make. Ever since I had the Champagne margarita from brunch at Somerville, I’m here for the twists on margs. Anything to remix the lemon drop, lychee martini, lychee marg, I’m here for it.
Meal Prep for this coming week: It’s been forever since I’ve made fish at home, so I’m actually super excited to make some salmon — I was telling my husband I want to start making different types of lunch and dinner bowls. We were in a bit of a rainy season, so I decided to try my hand at Tomato Soup.
What I’m bringing to the table: I finally found my perfect shade match. No mixing required. One of the lightest foundations I’ve used, feels light like a skin tint. Silky formula, great pigment. I’m actually unable to handle it. I didn’t even do my makeup in a mirror it’s so good. I was filming myself direct from my phone in natural light and I look good!

I was gifted the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and it honestly lives up to the hype. I’m going to have to rework my list of favorites — move some brands around because the match is impeccable. I’m shade 13.25, it’s described as deep neutral golden. I have yellow undertones — any hint of red or orange with oxidation is a huge deal breaker for me. It is absolutely beautiful on.
Let’s quickly talk affiliate platforms. LTK, ShopMy, Benable, Mavely. My only experience has been with LTK and ShopMy. I had my ShopMy account for a while, but never actively used it. Now I actively use it and love it way more than LTK. If you’re on LTK and love it, that’s great! I’m not trying to convince anyone, but instead of trying to pick one off the bat, use two platforms and see which one you prefer. At this point in my life and career with affiliate links, I prefer ShopMy. The Accelerator is officially completed and I’m super proud of my efforts.

At the Kids Table: I really need to make a decision on their room walls so I can move on. I wanted to do wallpaper, but their ceilings are high so I think it will be faster to lime wash and color drench it. Give it some texture and color and then I can move toward putting their shelves up, putting their neon M’s up, all the things. We’re about to enter back into a slow season for my husband, so now will be a great time to do as much as possible.
I’m also having second thoughts on their waffle rugs. Initially I was like “yay, it catches everything” then I was like “good grief, it catches everything” and it because it’s waffle it feels like it’s hard to really get it clean. It’s for sure too cheapy to wash without putting it into a garment bag, so I’m not sure. These are the moments that make a cheap option worth it — it doesn’t hurt as bad when you find out cheap isn’t going to cut it.
Anyway, it’s giving, buy the materials or don’t talk about it.
We were at Serra High School recently for their playoff game and it was giving baby HBCU. It’s a private school, but those kids look like they live their best life and I love that for them. They had a real good snack bar. Churros, Sundaes, Water Ice (their version of Happy Ice), all kinds of stuff. I was super impressed and it was fun to have the babes in that environment.
On Reserve | My Seasonal Wishlist: I’m back in black. Lately I’ve been gravitating toward black — my black turtleneck, my black longsleeves. It feels comfortable and safe right now and I like how easy it is to piece my feed together. I know the girls are letting go of the aesthetic, but I can’t.
While out for Valentine’s Day, my husband and I were talking about shoes and I brought us back to the fact that I have been wearing the Steve Madden mules since like 2022-2023. We can all agree at this point that’s my staple shoe. The Dolly Loubs — this year. That’s it. I really feel like you have to get two pair straight out the gate, black or white and a color or metallic. I don’t make the rules, it just makes the most sense. Bumping these up to the top of the list.
I mentioned this last week — part of having a signature style is honoring where you currently are. I’m ready to get dressed dressed. Really step out, but that’s not quite the season I’m in. That doesn’t mean it can’t be now, but it’s not my priority to focus on those types of fits currently.
Having a solid foundation and home base when it comes to style will always be important.
I came across these mesh Miu Miu kitten heels and these Prada Mesh Bow Slingbacks. I’m super into mesh shoes right now. I would love a pair of the Mesh Chanel Flats or a pair of Chanel slingbacks. Always had a love for a little see through action.
I un-deadstocked a pair of shoes this past weekend. My husband got me a new pair of Jordan Carolina 11s in 2024 and I haven’t so much as tried them on. After all of the Nike fun at Crenshaw last weekend, I got some Mamba gear and it required a very specific shoe, it had to be these. I only wore them for a few hours before slipping back into my slippers.
What my bank ate this week: My husbands bank account, but nothing crazy. Food. Marathon burger while at Crenshaw. Happy Ice. Water Ice at Serra High School.
The Waiting List | Things needing to be replaced/purchased: My car, my lease is up next year, but we ended up driving a little more than anticipated so, we’ll have to trade her in for something else. I really want to go back to BMW, but what I really want isn’t a necessity right now. MBZ actually ends up being the cheaper option between the two. We’ll see what happens.
Until next Sunday!
