As fun as Summer has been, I always look forward to fall, winter and cooler weather. Though LA does tend to get hot and stay hot later into the year, it doesn’t stop me from building my wish list early.
I recently had my annual wellness exam after having my daughter a year ago and who would have thought a new wardrobe would be on my list of things to build. Outside of being postpartum all together, I lost 16 pounds and it all makes sense why things that used to fit me better are a bit too big these days. Skinny isn’t my aim, though I am on the thinner side. Healthy in my body, for my body and for my blood type is actually what type of time I’m on.
I don’t like to focus on my weight and literally only weigh in/check in at doctors visits. I’ve experienced friends with severe eating disorders and though I didn’t have them myself, that experience still took a toll on me. I’m really good at eyeballing my weight based on how my clothes fit. I know what my heaviest looks like and I know what my smallest looks like and I’m actually 5 lbs away from my high school soccer body weight. I’m not trying to lose those 5 lbs, because I’m really happy with where I am and mostly with how I feel and look, but having lost so much over the last year, updating my wardrobe is now inevitable.
It’s not uncommon for postpartum mamas to feel unsatisfied with our wardrobes. It’s not uncommon for us to feel foreign in our clothes, confused about our style. It’s not uncommon for us to want to scrap everything and start over. On this journey of creating and curating my signature style, these are the moments that being super intentional make the most sense. Everything shared in this post is either 100% of the material (cotton, silk, etc.,) or 93%. In the era of fast fashion and slow shopping, I only want things on my list that are not made with a bunch of bs.

For My Walk in Closet
My goal with my closet and what I’m buying is to avoid fake materials, but for some reason leggings are one thing I’m willing to budge on. From my favorite All in Motion Target leggings to my new favorite Airlift Line Up Leggings from Alo, I can’t help but want what I want. I’m also the girl who doesn’t need a variety of options, when I find something I like, I go all in and stock up on that thing. From denim, to shoes, to coats and everything in between
Bottoms
I’m on the hunt for black denim in particular. I need to replace some light wash pairs and I haven’t had a white/off white pair of denim since last summer.
Airlift High-Waist 7/8 Line Up Legging in Black, I have one pair, but my wish is to add 3 more pairs
Renggli Work Wide Leg Denim in Black
Renggli Slim Work Straight Leg Denim in Bone (currently on sale)
Renggli Silk Shorts with Cuff in Black, shorts like these are great for cooler weather, you can pair with a tight, wear through holiday season and transition right into Spring.
Wolford Tights Option 1, Wolford Tights Option 2
A&F High Rise 90s Relaxed Denim in Black
Aritzia High Rise Denim in light and dark wash to match the denim top below
Tops
I want to add more feminine tops to my closet. Tops that look great with denim, look great with a trouser, tops that elevate a look or highlight and accentuate my favorite features such as my shoulders, arms and collarbones. I’m very heavy in my search on The Real Real which I shared a bit about in my first Sunday Spread and of course there are a few locations in LA, but I like my options more online. I do feel like a lot of tops are starting to look the same. My favorite part about curating my signature style is that I’m not just falling into trends. It’s taking me a good while to really lock in on what I want so I can feel most like me.
Renggli Long Sleve Crewneck in Black (currently on sale)
Damson Madder Tish Cami in Dark Leopard
Sheer turtle necks from Marcella NY in Black and a variety of other colors
Aritzia Denim Shirt in a light and dark wash. I’m ready for my Canadian tuxedo moment.
Aritzia Homestretch Tee in White. This is my favorite baby tee, it’s fitted, doesn’t lose it’s stretch and depending on your preference you can and should size down.
Dresses
Butter yellow still has my heart currently and between mini dresses, satin and lace dresses right now, I don’t desire much else right now. I love silk maxi dresses because you can style them so many ways, dressed up or dressed down. My current favorite way of styling silk maxi’s is to wear a graphic tee or knit sweater making it appear as if I’m wearing a skirt. It instantly elevates a casual look and feels put together no matter what.
Nili Lotan Cami Silk Gown in Black or other colors.
Gold Saint Laurent Silk low back dress. I know that the name alone is driving up the cost beyond it being 100% silk, but I’m determined to try to find a vintage option. The color and cut alone is so irresistible and I can see myself in it.
Until the next wish list. xx
